It was found that low-level LED irradiation promoted hORSC proliferation, suppressed apoptosis, and enhanced migration. This effect was linked to the activation of Wnt/β-catenin and ERK signaling pathways, as evidenced by increased expression of Wnt5a, Axin2, Lef1 mRNA, and β-catenin protein, along with phosphorylation of ERK, c-Jun, and p38. Additionally, red light treatment upregulated IL-6, IL-8, IGF-1, TGF-β1, and VEGF mRNA expressions. LED-irradiated hORSCs also boosted the proliferation of human dermal papilla cells (hDPCs) in co-culture, suggesting that LED light promotes hair growth through these molecular pathways.
