    GlossaryDemodicosis (Demodex infestation)

skin condition caused by overgrowth of Demodex mites

Demodicosis, also known as Demodectic mange, is a skin condition caused by an overgrowth of Demodex mites, which are microscopic parasites that naturally live in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands of mammals. While these mites are usually harmless, an overpopulation can lead to symptoms such as hair loss, redness, and inflammation, particularly in immunocompromised individuals or animals.
