    GlossaryCalciphylaxis

rare condition where calcium deposits block small blood vessels

Calciphylaxis is a rare and serious condition where calcium accumulates in the small blood vessels of the fat and skin tissues, leading to blood clots, painful skin ulcers, and potentially severe infections. It is most commonly seen in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease, particularly those on dialysis, and can be life-threatening if not promptly treated.
