    GlossaryPrussian blue

dark blue pigment used in art and medicine

Prussian blue, also known as Berlin blue or Ferric ferrocyanide, is a dark blue pigment that has been used in art and industry since its discovery in the early 18th century. It is also used in medicine as an antidote for certain kinds of heavy metal poisoning, such as thallium and radioactive cesium, because it can bind to these metals and help remove them from the body.
