    antibiotic derived from mold, treats bacterial infections

    Penicillin is a group of antibiotics derived from Penicillium fungi, discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1928. It is widely used to treat bacterial infections by inhibiting the formation of bacterial cell walls, making it effective against a variety of gram-positive bacteria.
