Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase (iNOS) is an enzyme that produces nitric oxide, a molecule that plays a crucial role in the body's immune response. Unlike other forms of nitric oxide synthase, iNOS is not always active but is instead produced in response to certain stimuli, such as infections or inflammatory signals, to help the body fight off pathogens.
