October 2018 in “Brain Research Bulletin” This article reviews the role of exosomes in promoting axonal regeneration and discusses recent findings on how exosome-borne molecules might influence the PTEN-mTOR pathway in injured neurons; it reports no new experimental results.
This study found that exosomes derived from hair follicle neural crest stem cells significantly promoted nerve regeneration in injured neurons, particularly when overexpressing miR-214-3p, which enhanced axon extension and motor function recovery in both in vitro and in vivo models.

September 2018 in “Journal of Biomaterials Science, Polymer Edition” This study found that pyramidal neural precursors best grew neurites on matrigel, while neural stem cells differentiated directionally on aligned fibrin, suggesting the importance of biomaterial selection for cell culture.
In this study, hair follicle neural crest stem cell-derived exosomes, especially those overexpressing miR-214-3p, significantly promoted axon extension and nerve regeneration in both in vitro and in vivo models, suggesting a promising therapeutic strategy for peripheral nerve injuries.

May 2003 in “The Laryngoscope” In this study, researchers observed that spiral ganglion neurites created more branched networks near FGF-1-coupled beads compared to control beads, highlighting FGF-1's role in hair cell innervation development.
