Neomycin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria, effectively stopping their growth. Commonly found in topical creams and ointments, it is often used to prevent infections in minor cuts, burns, and wounds. However, it can cause allergic reactions in some individuals and is not suitable for use in large open wounds or severe burns.
