Dyslipidemia, also known as hyperlipidemia or lipid disorder, refers to an abnormal amount of lipids (e.g., cholesterol and/or fat) in the blood. This condition can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attack and stroke, due to the buildup of fatty deposits in the arteries. It is often diagnosed through blood tests and can be managed with lifestyle changes, medications, or a combination of both.
