    GlossaryHair Root Cells

specialized cells at the base of hair follicles

Hair root cells are specialized cells located at the base of the hair follicle, within the hair bulb. These cells are responsible for the production and growth of hair by dividing and differentiating to form the hair shaft and its surrounding structures. They play a crucial role in the hair growth cycle, including phases of growth (anagen), regression (catagen), and rest (telogen).
