Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (LSG), also known as sleeve gastrectomy or gastric sleeve surgery, is a minimally invasive weight-loss procedure where approximately 75-80% of the stomach is removed, leaving a tube-like "sleeve." This significantly reduces the stomach's capacity, leading to reduced food intake and promoting weight loss. The procedure is performed using small incisions and a laparoscope, which is a thin, flexible tube with a camera, allowing for a quicker recovery compared to open surgery.
