Kwashiorkor is a severe form of malnutrition caused by a deficiency in dietary protein. It is characterized by symptoms such as edema (swelling, often in the legs and abdomen), an enlarged liver, thinning hair, and a weakened immune system. This condition is most commonly seen in children in developing countries where food scarcity is prevalent.
