Keratoacanthoma is a type of skin growth that resembles a small, volcano-like bump with a central crater filled with keratin, a protein found in hair and nails. It typically grows rapidly over a few weeks to months and often appears on sun-exposed areas of the skin, such as the face, arms, and hands. While it is generally considered benign, it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish from squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer, so medical evaluation and possibly a biopsy are recommended.
