Kawasaki disease, also known as mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome, is a rare but serious condition that primarily affects children under the age of 5. It causes inflammation in the walls of medium-sized arteries throughout the body, including the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart. Symptoms include a high fever, rash, swollen hands and feet, red eyes, and swollen lymph nodes. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent long-term heart complications.
