January 2013 in “Journal of Veterinary Medical Science” A 12-year-old Satsuma dog with generalized alopecia, erythema, crusts, desquamation, papules, erosions, and skin necrosis was diagnosed with Babesia gibsoni. Despite initial improvement with antiprotozoal treatment, the dog's skin lesions and anemia relapsed after discontinuation. Histopathological examination suggested early leukocytoclastic vasculitis or ischemic vasculopathy.
