    GlossaryHair Pull Test

diagnostic method to assess hair shedding by gentle pulling

The Hair Pull Test is a diagnostic procedure used to evaluate hair loss. During the test, a small group of hairs (usually around 40-60) is gently pulled from the scalp to see how many hairs come out. If more than a few hairs are easily pulled out, it may indicate active hair shedding or a condition like telogen effluvium or alopecia areata.
