    Glossary Cuticle Damage

harm to hair's outer protective layer, leading to breakage

Cuticle damage refers to the harm or impairment of the outermost layer of the hair shaft, known as the cuticle. This layer consists of overlapping cells that protect the inner structure of the hair. When the cuticle is damaged, often due to excessive heat styling, chemical treatments, or environmental factors, it can lead to hair that is more prone to breakage, frizz, and dullness.
