research Epigenetic Mechanisms, Assessment and Therapeutics of Epidermal Stem Cells in Skin Aging
This review discusses the role of epigenetic modifications in the aging of epidermal stem cells (EpSCs), highlighting mechanisms such as DNA methylation, histone modifications, and noncoding RNA. These modifications are crucial in regulating EpSC function and their dysregulation contributes to aging. The review also introduces epigenetic clocks like Horvath's and VisAgeX, which serve as biomarkers for biological age and help assess aging progression and therapeutic outcomes. Emerging interventions targeting these epigenetic disruptions show promise for antiaging treatments and innovative dermatological therapies.
