    Dry Eye Syndrome (DES), also known as Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca, is a condition where the eyes do not produce enough tears or the tears evaporate too quickly, leading to inflammation and damage to the eye's surface. Symptoms include dryness, irritation, redness, and a gritty sensation in the eyes, and it can be caused by factors such as aging, environmental conditions, medications, or underlying health issues.
