    GlossaryDNA damage response (DDR)

cellular mechanisms detect and repair damaged DNA to maintain integrity

The DNA damage response (DDR) is a complex network of cellular processes that detect and repair damage to the DNA, ensuring the integrity of the genetic material. When DNA is damaged by factors like UV radiation or chemicals, DDR mechanisms activate to either fix the damage or, if repair is not possible, trigger cell death to prevent the propagation of faulty DNA. This system is crucial for preventing mutations that could lead to diseases such as cancer.

Kitchen_Plastic_2847 had been fighting hair loss since 2019-2020 and was initially successful in regrowing his hair with finasteride. However, after contracting Covid three times back to back at the start of 2021, he started to lose his hair again. He found a new dermatologist who prescribed him oral minoxidil along with finasteride, but eventually decided it wasn't worth spending all the money to try and save his hair.
