      March 2025
This letter to the editor discusses two cases of cutaneous appendage damage following herpes zoster (HZ) infection. The first case involves a 59-year-old male who experienced nail damage on his left hand after HZ, which improved after shoulder surgery and antiviral treatment. The second case is a 54-year-old woman who suffered hair loss in the occipital region following HZ, with no significant hair regrowth observed after 3 years despite treatment. The letter suggests that severe inflammatory reactions from HZ can lead to trophic changes in nails and hair, and highlights tuberculosis infection and kidney transplantation as potential risk factors for such damage. The mechanism behind cutaneous appendage damage after HZ remains unclear and warrants further investigation.
