Creatine Kinase (CK), also known as Creatine Phosphokinase (CPK), is an enzyme found in the heart, brain, and skeletal muscles. It plays a crucial role in energy production by catalyzing the conversion of creatine and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) into phosphocreatine and adenosine diphosphate (ADP). Elevated levels of CK in the blood can indicate muscle damage, heart attack, or other medical conditions affecting muscle tissue.
