    GlossaryEx Vivo Culture

growing cells or tissues outside their original biological context

Ex Vivo Culture refers to the process of growing or maintaining cells, tissues, or organs outside of their original biological context, typically in a controlled laboratory environment. This technique allows researchers to study biological processes in a more natural state than in vitro (in a petri dish) while still being able to manipulate and observe the sample closely. For example, hair follicles can be cultured ex vivo to study hair growth and alopecia treatments.
