    GlossaryBulk Modulus

measure of a material's resistance to uniform compression

The Bulk Modulus, also known as the Modulus of Bulk Elasticity, is a measure of a material's resistance to uniform compression. It quantifies how much a material will compress under a given amount of pressure. For example, a high Bulk Modulus indicates that the material is incompressible and very stiff, like steel, whereas a low Bulk Modulus means the material is more compressible, like rubber.
