Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breasts. This is typically achieved through the insertion of implants filled with saline or silicone gel, or by using fat transfer techniques. The procedure is often sought for cosmetic reasons, such as to improve body contour, restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy, or for reconstructive purposes following mastectomy.
