measure of cells' ability to proliferate and form colonies

Colony-Forming Efficiency (CFE) is a measure used in cell biology to determine the proportion of cells in a given population that are capable of proliferating and forming colonies. It is often used to assess the health and viability of stem cells or other proliferative cells, such as those involved in hair follicle regeneration. CFE is calculated by dividing the number of colonies formed by the number of cells initially plated, providing insight into the regenerative potential of the cell sample.
