research Critical Analysis on Characterization, Systemic Effect, and Therapeutic Potential of Beta-Sitosterol: A Plant-Derived Orphan Phytosterol
This review discusses the properties and therapeutic potentials of beta-sitosterol, highlighting a need for more detailed studies on its mechanisms and long-term effects in humans; it reports no new results.
research Preparation and characterization of Betasitosterol-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers for butter enrichment
This study found that betasitosterol-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers, when added to butter, improved its nutritional profile and antioxidant properties, maintaining stability over a three-month storage period.
research Blockade of Androgen Markers Using a Novel Betasitosterol, Thioctic Acid and Carnitine-containing Compound in Prostate and Hair Follicle Cell-based Assays
In laboratory tests, this study found that a novel natural composition targeting 5-alpha reductase and inflammatory pathways reduced disease-related markers in androgenetic alopecia and benign prostatic hyperplasia more effectively than finasteride.
research Identification of Beta-Sitosterol and Stigmasterol as Possible Inhibitors of 5 Alpha-Reductase 1: An In-Silico Study
This study reports that using molecular docking methods, beta-sitosterol and stigmasterol from Serenoa repens were identified as potential natural inhibitors of the 5AR1 enzyme, which could serve as novel treatments for androgenetic alopecia based on their inhibitory action observed in a laboratory setting.
research Formulation Development and Investigations on Therapeutic Potential of Nanogel from Beta vulgaris L. Extract in Testosterone-Induced Alopecia
The researchers reported that a 5% Beta vulgaris L. extract nanogel showed better antialopecic activity in testosterone-induced alopecia in mice compared to a 2.5% concentration.

5 / 37 resultscommunity Did anybody use beta sisterol for hair loss? I saw in many articles in the internet that said that beta sisterol blocks dht by inhibiting 5a reductase type 2 enzyme and some reviews of people who said that it worked better than saw palmetto in terms of stoping hair loss and helping prostate.
Beta-sitosterol may inhibit 5-alpha reductase type 2 enzyme, potentially reducing DHT levels and promoting hair growth, similar to finasteride but possibly with fewer side effects. Its effectiveness and side effects compared to other treatments like saw palmetto and finasteride remain uncertain due to limited research.
community Trying to remember the name of a supplement someone on here told me about.. nvm I just remembered beta sitosterol.
Beta sitosterol is mentioned as a supplement for hair loss. Minoxidil, finasteride, and RU58841 are also discussed as treatments.
community (Topic) does saw palmetto actually work?
Saw palmetto can help reduce DHT levels and may work in combination with other supplements like beta sitosterol and pygume, but it's less effective than finasteride. Additional treatments like pumpkin seed extract, zinc, biotin, essential oils, scalp massages, and micro-needling can support hair health, but should not replace existing treatments like finasteride.
community Natural DHT Blockers instead of fin
The conversation discusses using natural DHT blockers like saw palmetto, beta sitosterol, pumpkin seed oil, pygeum africanum bark, and nettle root as alternatives to finasteride for hair loss, with mixed opinions on their effectiveness. Some users report minimal improvement with natural options and better results with finasteride or dutasteride, despite concerns about potential side effects.
community What's your opinion on this type of supplements?
The conversation discusses skepticism about DHT blocker supplements for hair loss, with many users recommending proven treatments like finasteride and minoxidil instead. Some users shared personal experiences with alternative treatments like beta-sitosterol and saw palmetto, noting side effects and limited effectiveness.
