research A Mouse Model of Vitiligo Based on Endogenous Auto-Reactive CD8+ T Cell Targeting Skin Melanocyte
The study developed a mouse model for vitiligo that replicated key features of the disease, such as skin depigmentation and melanocyte loss, by activating endogenous autoreactive CD8+ T cells. This was achieved through the inoculation of B16F10 melanoma cells and depletion of CD4+ regulatory T cells. The model showed a 60-80% success rate in inducing depigmentation, with higher success in female mice, and was applicable to any C57BL/6 mouse strain. It provided a valuable tool for vitiligo research and drug discovery, allowing for the study of disease progression and potential therapeutic interventions.
