January 1982 in “Clinical Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology” Familial dyskeratotic comedones (FDC) was an autosomal dominant inherited skin disorder marked by multiple comedone-like hyperkeratotic papules. It showed distinct histopathologic features, including dyskeratosis of the epidermis or follicle-like structures. Although asymptomatic and benign, FDC was resistant to treatment. A case study of a 54-year-old female with a 20-year history of the condition showed slight improvement after 3 months of topical retinoids and urea cream. The study also provided the first description of dermoscopic findings of FDC and reviewed 21 previously reported cases from 11 families.
