Antiviral drugs, also known as antivirals or antiviral medications, are a class of medications used to treat viral infections by inhibiting the development and replication of viruses. Unlike antibiotics, which target bacteria, antivirals are specifically designed to interfere with the life cycle of viruses, thereby reducing the severity and duration of viral illnesses such as influenza, HIV, and herpes.
