Thyroid antibodies, also known as thyroid autoantibodies, are immune system proteins that mistakenly target and react with components of the thyroid gland. These antibodies can lead to thyroid dysfunction, contributing to conditions such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves' disease. Elevated levels of thyroid antibodies are often used as a diagnostic marker for autoimmune thyroid disorders.
