Abatacept, also known by the brand name Orencia, is a medication used to treat autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and certain types of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. It works by inhibiting the activation of T-cells, a type of white blood cell that plays a key role in the immune response, thereby reducing inflammation and preventing the immune system from attacking healthy tissues.
