November 2022 in “Journal of Ginseng Research/Journal of ginseng research” This study investigated the role of autophagy in human dermal papilla cells and found that inhibiting autophagy accelerates the catagen phase by reducing Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Furthermore, adding ginsenoside Re appears to restore autophagy, suggesting potential benefits for mitigating hair loss linked to autophagy inhibition.

July 2015 in “International Journal of Molecular Sciences” In this study, fluoxetine was found to decrease proliferation and adipogenic differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells, suggesting it may reduce fat accumulation by increasing autophagy-related gene expression.

April 2017 in “Molecular Medicine Reports” In this study, blocking autophagy with 3-methyladenine significantly improved the survival of inner ear hair cells in a gentamicin-induced ototoxic mouse model.
November 2025 in “Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy” This study found that platelet-rich plasma therapy significantly promoted hair growth in androgenetic alopecia model mice by enhancing autophagy, with effects similar to rapamycin treatment.
June 2023 in “Research Square (Research Square)” This study found that autophagy activation in hair follicle stem cells shifted their metabolism to glycolysis, which promoted hair growth by initiating the hair follicle cycle.
