TLDR Vegetables in Kaduna, Nigeria, have varying zinc levels, with Amaranthus tricolor having the most.
The study assessed zinc levels in various vegetables from Tudun Wada-Makera, Kaduna, Nigeria, using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Zinc is crucial for health, and its deficiency can lead to issues like hair loss and growth retardation. The research found significant zinc concentrations in the vegetables, with Amaranthus tricolor having the highest zinc content at 0.042 ± 0.01 mg/g, while Brassica olaracea had the lowest at 0.012 ± 0.21 mg/g. This highlighted the potential for zinc intake through these vegetables, despite environmental pollution concerns.
