TLDR Zinc deficiency might affect vitamin B12 levels.
This study investigated the association between zinc deficiency and vitamin B12 levels in individuals of different ages in Ahvaz. It found that 60.5% of participants had lower than normal serum zinc levels, but there was no statistically significant difference in zinc levels between the normal and zinc-deficient groups. As age increased by 1 year, serum zinc levels decreased by 0.13 units, while vitamin B12 levels increased by 0.19 units. Although vitamin B12 levels were higher in the normal zinc group compared to the zinc-deficient group, this difference was not statistically significant. The study concluded that zinc and vitamin B12 serum levels could have a clinically positive correlation, suggesting that zinc deficiency might influence vitamin B12 status.
