TLDR Children's hair loss can have various causes, including infections, autoimmune issues, physical stress, nutritional problems, and genetic factors.
There are four common types of hair loss in children: alopecia related to tinea capitis, alopecia areata, traction alopecia, and telogen effluvium. Other causes include trichotillosis, pressure-induced alopecia, nutritional deficiency, toxic ingestion, and androgenetic alopecia. Congenital alopecia can be due to temporal triangular alopecia, aplasia cutis, and nevus sebaceus.
