TLDR The new electrode improves long-term monitoring on hairy skin by reducing motion issues and is easy to use.
The study introduces a novel hairy-skin-adaptive viscoelastic dry electrode (VDE) designed to improve long-term epidermal electrophysiological monitoring by overcoming challenges posed by hair growth and skin wrinkles. The VDE maintains stable interface impedance for 48 days and 100 cycles, effectively reducing motion artifacts in electrocardiography (ECG) and electromyography (EMG) monitoring, even under conditions of intense movement. Additionally, it can be easily attached to the skull for electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring without the need for caps or bandages, marking a significant advancement in electrophysiological signal detection on hairy skin.

community Fats on your Head to Stop Hair Loss?

      in Research/Science  140 upvotes 1 year ago
The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.

      in Finasteride/Dutasteride  42 upvotes 1 year ago
The conversation discusses whether creatine causes hair loss for those using finasteride or dutasteride, with some suggesting creatine might increase DHT or upregulate androgen receptors, potentially leading to hair loss. Others argue the evidence is not conclusive, citing limited studies and personal anecdotes, with some avoiding creatine as a precaution.

community Just found out I am Vitamin D deficient

in Treatment  58 upvotes 4 years ago
A user found out they are vitamin D deficient and was prescribed high-dose vitamin D supplements, asking if others had similar experiences and if it improved their hair. Some shared improved mood and testosterone levels after treatment, while another combined vitamin D supplements with finasteride due to family history of baldness.
