TLDR A toddler with a rare adrenal gland tumor causing male-like physical changes was successfully treated with surgery.
A 3-year-old girl with hirsutism, acne, and virilization was diagnosed with a rare functioning adrenocortical oncocytoma. Elevated testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate levels were noted. After a successful left adrenalectomy, the tumor, composed mainly of oncocytes, was fully resected. Post-surgery, the child's symptoms improved, and hormone levels normalized. The case highlighted the rarity of such tumors in children and the need for ongoing monitoring for potential recurrences.
