The Use of PRP to Target Dysregulated Pathways in Androgenetic Alopecia

TLDR PRP may help treat hair loss, but results vary.
This study reviews the use of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a common type of progressive hair loss. The authors analyzed 15 clinical trials published between 2018 and October 2021. Five studies evaluated PRP in combination with standard treatments (minoxidil and/or finasteride), seven found PRP effective as a standalone treatment, and three concluded PRP was ineffective. The study highlights the variability in PRP preparation and administration, which complicates the assessment of its clinical efficacy. The goal is to provide a consensus on the optimal use of PRP for treating AGA.
