TLDR Hair loss and polyneuropathy improved, but severe vision impairment persisted.
Two patients (mother and daughter) experienced severe thallium poisoning, leading to hair loss, polyneuropathy, and visual impairment. Initial electrophysiological tests were normal, delaying diagnosis, but thallium poisoning was later confirmed through toxicological analysis. Treatment with Prussian blue helped eliminate thallium. Hair loss was fully reversible, and polyneuropathy improved significantly over 2 years, though some motor and sensory impairments persisted. Severe vision impairment, including central scotomata and impaired color discrimination, remained with little chance of substantial improvement.
