TLDR N-acetylcysteine and ImuVert can prevent hair loss in rats caused by chemotherapy.
The study investigated the protective effects of N-acetylcysteine and ImuVert on chemotherapy-induced alopecia in rats. It was found that cyclophosphamide-induced alopecia could be effectively prevented by N-acetylcysteine, whether administered parenterally or topically in liposomes. Additionally, alopecia caused by the combination of cyclophosphamide and cytarabine could be prevented by the parenteral or topical administration of ImuVert plus N-acetylcysteine. The potential for these findings to be applied in clinical settings remained to be determined.
