TLDR Traumatic anserine folliculosis is a skin condition caused by friction, treatable with topical cream and avoiding trauma.
Traumatic anserine folliculosis was described as an under-recognized condition characterized by multiple closely set follicular papules, often confused with other follicular dermatoses. A 15-year-old female presented with asymptomatic, progressive roughness on her chin due to prolonged friction from resting in a peculiar position. The diagnosis was made based on clinical presentation and history, as histopathological examination was declined. The condition was treated with topical tretinoin 0.025% cream and avoidance of trauma. Differential diagnoses included keratosis pilaris and lichen spinulosus. The prognosis was good, with potential complete resolution upon removal of friction or pressure.
