TLDR Foam corticosteroid covers as well as traditional forms.
The study compared a new betamethasone valerate foam vehicle with traditional vehicles (cream, lotion, gel, and solution) for treating scalp dermatoses. The foam vehicle, which leaves no residue, had 9-12 times more fingertip units (FTUs) per 100 g than cream or gel and 2.3-2.8 times more than lotion or solution. Although each FTU of foam covered a smaller area, the total coverage area for 100 g of foam was comparable to that of traditional vehicles, demonstrating the foam's effectiveness in delivering the drug.
