TLDR Topical corticosteroid foams are effective, safe, and easy to use for treating various skin conditions.
The review evaluated the efficacy and safety of topical corticosteroid foams for various dermatoses. It found that clobetasol propionate foam significantly improved moderate plaque-type psoriasis, with 68% of subjects achieving a favorable score compared to 21% in the control group. Betamethasone valerate (BMV) foam showed promising results for alopecia areata, with 42.86% of subjects achieving ≥75% hair regrowth, and was effective for scalp psoriasis. Calcipotriol plus betamethasone dipropionate foam and desonide 0.05% foam also demonstrated superior outcomes compared to their respective placebos. The study concluded that these foams are generally easy to apply, potentially improving patient adherence and clinical outcomes.
