TLDR Calcipotriol cream can effectively and safely treat mild-to-moderate patchy hair loss.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of topical calcipotriol in treating mild-to-moderate alopecia areata (AA) over 12 weeks with 48 patients. Results showed significant improvement, with 69.2% of patients responding positively by week 12. The mean Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) score significantly decreased (P=0.001), and 75% of patients experienced ≥50% hair regrowth, while 62.5% had ≥75% regrowth, and 27.1% achieved complete regrowth. The study concluded that calcipotriol could be a safe and effective treatment for mild-to-moderate patchy AA, recommending further extensive controlled studies.
