Successful Management of Therapy-Resistant Chronic Refractory Atopic Dermatitis and Alopecia Universalis With Oral Tofacitinib in a Girl

    TLDR Oral tofacitinib successfully treated a girl's severe skin and hair conditions.
    A 5-year-old girl with therapy-resistant alopecia areata and atopic dermatitis was successfully treated with oral tofacitinib, initially at 5 mg once daily, then increased to 5 mg twice daily due to inadequate response. This treatment led to complete hair regrowth, except for the ophiasis pattern, and full clearance of atopic dermatitis. The case highlights the long-term safety and efficacy of tofacitinib for managing these concurrent dermatological conditions, despite limited case reports on its use for both conditions simultaneously.
