TLDR CO₂ laser treatment is fast and effective for some benign skin tumors with minimal side effects.
The document from 2015 discussed the effectiveness of timed exposure CO₂ laser drilling in treating benign dermal tumors, specifically steatocystoma multiplex, syringomas, and eruptive vellus hair cysts, through three case studies. An 18-year-old woman with steatocystoma multiplex saw significant improvement after four treatments, a 55-year-old woman with syringomas improved after two treatments, while a 42-year-old man with eruptive vellus hair cysts had a recurrence of lesions after initial improvement, leading to the cessation of laser therapy. The treatment, which was well tolerated with topical anesthesia, resulted in wound healing within a week. The study concluded that this laser treatment is fast and effective for some benign dermal tumors with minimal side effects, but less effective for larger or rapidly recurring tumors. No financial support or conflicts of interest were reported.
