TLDR A standardized guideline would improve Telogen Effluvium management.
The study surveyed 150 dermatologists and dermatology residents in Nepal to understand their management practices for Telogen Effluvium (TE), a common hair loss condition. Most participants diagnosed TE through history and clinical examination, with thyroid function tests being the most common investigation. Iron and vitamin deficiencies were identified as leading causes by 78% of respondents, and counseling and iron/vitamin supplements were the primary management strategies. TE was reported to have a moderate impact on quality of life by 69.33% of participants, and 50.67% noted a good level of patient satisfaction with treatment outcomes. The study concludes that a standardized consensus guideline would be beneficial for the effective management of TE.
