TLDR Taurine might help prevent hair loss caused by stress.
In the 2013 study, researchers found that taurine could potentially serve as an effective anti-alopecia agent against stress-induced hair loss, as demonstrated in the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans. Taurine was shown to reduce the expression of the stress protein Hsp-70, extend lifespan, and increase the number of offspring when compared to the effects of astressin-B and finasteride. The study suggests that taurine may be more effective than the other tested agents and highlights the importance of further research to explore synergistic effects and to confirm these findings in mammalian models, with a focus on developing safe treatments for individuals, particularly adolescents, who suffer emotional stress due to hair loss.
