TLDR Non-daily contraceptives cause fewer side effects and are more satisfying to women, and certain oral contraceptives can treat acne and seborrhoea, with a combination of chlormadinone acetate and ethinyl estradiol being highly effective and safe.
In 2007, a symposium highlighted the dissatisfaction of women with traditional contraceptive methods due to their impracticality, leading to discontinuation within six months. Non-oral contraceptives were discussed as potential solutions, with a trial showing that women who switched to a non-daily method experienced fewer adverse effects and were more likely to continue its use. A study also showed that 61% of women were very satisfied with a contraceptive vaginal ring, compared to 34% using low-dose oral contraceptives. The symposium also discussed the cosmetic benefits of oral contraceptives, particularly those containing a potent antiandrogenic progestogen, in treating acne and seborrhoea in women of reproductive age. Lastly, the combination of 2 mg chlormadinone acetate and 0.03 mg ethinyl estradiol was discussed for its high contraceptive efficacy, safety, and additional health and beauty benefits.
